Ben Hand Laverstoke Builder
Before the build.
The owners wanted an extension to the back of the property. They wanted to increase their living space, bring in more natural light and connect to the garden beyond. As this was a character property, it was important to match the existing brick work, in keeping with the original building.
It’s not unusual for someone to approach a builder like us with an initial idea but have yet to get to the stage where they have any finished plans. We put them in touch with a professional who could design the plans and submit them to the council for full planning approval. When budgeting for a build, it is a good idea to also plan in some contingency. With this build, part of that fund was needed to dig deeper footings, in order to reach stable ground.
There was great attention to detail on this build. We worked hard to source the closest matching bricks to the existing house. Installing bi-folding doors, means they can fold right back to give an unobscured view of the garden beyond. We added Velux windows to bring in more natural light.
This is a wonderful addition to a family living space. Giving more room to live, dine, entertain and play!
